"The city never sleeps"
The above saying is very true and even more so now that we have electric lighting. Cities, factories and shops can now all stay oven 24/7 and work to capacity. Workers and shoppers can go to and from shifts in almost daylight conditions and feel safe in doing so.
Light is everything in modern life. We all use it and need it for almost everything we do. Where we use our eyes and where we need to b accurate or safe its a great source of comfort.
I would not have liked pre-electricity days. We would all have to go to bed with the chickens and get up with the lark. Most of us would sleep our evenings away instead of going clubbing, and out with friends. We also wouldn't produce the goods we do in the world today if we could only use factories during daylight hours.
Light is life, we need light to grow food. I could carry on but I feel you have enough now.

well bright and coloured lights are use for the signs of clubs and take aways to draw people in, places with no alot of light seem creepier than if they were in the country, cos in the city you kinda feel like there could always be someone around so a badly lit street or care park is really scary. More street lights on a street denotes that it is a main route or used often, and light is used to light up buildings with architecture that's deamed inportant, for example a town hall or statue.
