Something along the lines of these albums...(or something different)

Bill Evans-Sunday Afternoon at the Village Vanguard
Jim Hall-Live
Thelonious Monk-Underground
Ben Webster-At the Renaissance
Lee Konitz-Another Shade of Blue
Sheila Jordan-Portrait of Sheila Jordan.

I don't mind if it gets loud at times, as long as it has a quiet interspective, explorative vibe to it. Anything good to chill to is good for me.

Check out some brazilian jazz. Soft, mellow, and so on. I've always loved it..........

Stan Getz, Jobim, Gilberto, Charlie Byrd, and so on.

If you don't mind a jazz-esque commercial things......Sergio Mendes has done some nice things over the years.

Also......have a listen to pianist David Benoit......very talented, generally very "mellow."

You need many Shirley Horn cds. Her intimacy is sublime.

Also, Duke Ellington's solo piano collection is wonderful, if hard to find.

The Maybeck solo piano series on Concord Records has some great entries that fall into the "intimate" category.
