Dear Alaskan Beauty,
Yep. Probably even more common in Alaska. I lived up there for 16 years and was married for 12 of them to another Alaskan Beauty who suffered a lot on the holidays, and was subject to depression for long stretches during the winter. For the first eight years of our marriage she was a stay-at-home mom and was miserable. I finally let go of my retirement funds and spent about $30,000 on setting her up in a gift shop which never more than paid for its rent, but was worth at least that much to her quality of life.

What I'm saying is that the best cure seems to be to get busy with other people.

Just thought I'd throw that out. I hate bein' miserable.
Good on ya!

Bah HUMBUG!!!!!!! I generaly feel the same way. I find Christmas very stressful. Families argue over insignificant things. Too much food to eat. Shopping, I hate it on a normal day.

So,,..... I suggest focusing on the good things.

For me. those are the lights on the tree and the house. I love that. I like the cheerful fun holiday music and some reggae and jazz holiday music as well. Turn out the lights, put on the christmas tree and the tunes. Drinking hot tea or hot chocolate.

yeahhhhhhhhhh

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccce

Merry Christmas!

Ir's probably more common than you'd think. I think it has more to do with dreading all the crap that goes along with the holidays, far more than it does with the holidays themselves.

Reach down inside and pull out one thing you love doing during the holidays, and do that. The crap can and will wait!

This is Very common. So many decisions to make can overwhelm you. Presents to buy and what to buy for who. Decorating to do, meals to plan. I get Very depressed over the holidays and by Christmas I can barely get through. I hate to wrap gifts so I try to find friends/family to wrap them for me. Now I am too ill to shop so I have to get someone to shop for me. I try to play christmas music alot to help keep me in the spirit but I do get very depressed over the holidays.

Yes, alot of people start feeling overwhelmed. So much to do in such a short time. Plus, there is always the money. And, it seems like the weather turns dark and gloomy about this time of the year. You are not alone. Happy Thanksgiving!
