Does anybody know if I can use the DVR from Dish Network and hook it up on Comcast cable? Would it work?
Thanks.

No it wont work.

The Dish DVR actually stores the microwave signals that come from the satellite onto the disk and plays them back. This 'file' is unique to Dish and nothing else can play it back. Also - it's not a dumb VCR. It gets all the information about the show from the Dish program guide which is also unique to Dish.

Your CATV feed is not the same type of information, not the same channel, does not have the Dish program guide, etc.

You can pass the CATV signal through the DVR to watch cable if you turn OFF the Dish receiver, but it wont record things.

actually it relies upon.. the directTV and the dish consistently freeze even as the weathers badd (no count were ITS placed) it it rains heavy it scrambles. in my opion ive had comcast for a three hundred and sixty 5 days now and ive had a million difficulty with the cable. yet all strains listed decrease than are underground also. plus they offer a digatal equipment for the HDTV even if for the cost DirectTV is nice yet even as theres a mission Comcast fixes it swifter! so identity keep on with comcast. I surely have the internet by them also and that i do have subject matters with it alot even if it eventually fixes its self. so its your call!
