Okay, first of all, I find it amazing that they don't fight for living space and territory! I'm also wondering how they all fit in there!

Her fish have more chance of getting sick, fighting and not living long in that small a tank! Plus the filter won't be able to keep up with all that waste, the tank will be filthy. Then the ammonia and nitrite levels will be imbalanced.

You're supposed to have one inch of fish per gallon of water. So bettas are about 2 inches long, so one betta needs 2 gallons worth of swimming space. She'll need a MUCH bigger tank!!!!!!! It's nice that you're concerned for your friend's fish, you're not stupid for noticing the tank is overcrowded! =)

that isnt physically possible to fit that many fishes in a 1/2 gallon bowl.

So either this is a troll or someones lying.

Aggression wise, not all males fight...thats true but they would have to be babies or special bettas, but im not sure if you know how to tell like i do.

They could be females and someone cant tell either....

But anway, it sounds like this waste post as the last comment made by the asker...."i guess ima keep it that way" shows that this person is trolling.

Male bettas will fight and yes that is way to small!! Do your research girl!! I own and breed bettas and i have purcased females in the past and there happened to be short finned males in with the females, and all they done was fight and i even lost females because of them. I would separate them asap as they will kill each other.

If you want you could keep 1 male bette in with females providing the females have plenty of plants or hidey-holes to get away from the male as he can chase them to their death. You could also keep a male betta with a different fish providing it doesn't look like a male betta eg guppies or that the other fish doesn't fin nip.

They will start to kill each other. My little sister had three in a 1/2 gallon tank and the one betta killed another. She bought a new tank which looks like one tank but has separate compartments for the fish. This way, the mean one can't see her other fish, but my sister can still enjoy the fish in the same tank.

Betta is the common name for a SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH. They didn't get that name by singing Kumbaya, they got that name by being raised to fight to the death with other fish. Bettas are naturally agressive and territorial. If you want to keep all your babies, you need to separate them.

If you don't want to buy 16 bowls, (I wouldn't want to either), PLEASE consider switching to a divided fishtank. Here's a pic:

The only way you can fit 16 bettas in there, is if they're babies, other then that, NO WAY

For this amount of bettas you need AT LEAST a 40 gallon tank which also needs to be havily planted

Hope that helps
Good luck

This tank is way too small. No matter what you state, all the males will fight. They should be separated so that individual males have their own tank. I f you keep the status quo, you are going to have a survival of the strongest and eventually will be left with one battered survivor.

All betas fight even if you don't see it happen. You need to get 16 separate tanks. Ya it is a lot, but it needs to be done. Next time you buy an animal, do research on it first.

B--S--t,if they are together, than they must still be young(females/short tail bettas)If they don't spar now..they will(survival of the fittest)
How can you have that many in such a small place Deal to this man,or hand them back to the pet shop(to ensure they live)
Do your research...(or better yet lock yourseilf up with that many people)

That is totally ridiculous, if this is true they likely can't even move and they will kill each other. Each betta needs at least one gallon, preferably as much as 5 gallons.
