Now bear in mind, I did RINSE them under the water, i just didnt use any soap.

I never use the soap because its on the other side of the bathroom and besides the germs get killed off by the heat from cooking anyway.

Anyways my boss caught me one day and is now threatening to sack me which I cant afford since the restuarant is very well known and would look great on my resume.

Do you think my employer is being unfair?

Even if the germs do killed off by the heat, there is still a chance that some of the germs never got killed and you are passing those germs that were once on your hand onto those who are going to eat your food and you can get them sick. If you get that person sick, then there would be a chance that the health inspection department would come in and close the restaurant because of this mistake.

Hygiene is of utmost important for anyone in the food industry -even at home. It is vital to help control the spread of harmful germs and prevent food poisoning. This should, without doubt be indeed the number 1 objective to you as a chef. You are lucky you were just threatened. I wouldn't be surprised if you had got fired on the spot.

No, I don't thing your employer is being unfair. You need to always be as clean as possible, when cooking for the public as well as yourself. It only takes a few extra seconds, but it is well worth it. If you leave germs on your hands , everything you touch will be affected. Not only food. And germs grow in a warm place fast.So ,go the extra mile, do the right thing.

no they are being very fair.
"rinsing under water" doe not mean they are clean..and germs do not get killed off by heat...well not the ones that you spread over all the other stuff in the kitchen before you get to the heat.

if i was your boss I would of sacked you...its called basic health and hygiene and as a chef its part of your job.

all the way over the other side of the bathroom...you lazy sod...i bet your a fat fuc.

remind me never to eat in your restaurant

I'm a bit worried that you heat your hands up sufficently to kill bacteria during cooking! You would need to actually COOK your hand to kill the bacteria on it.

Do you have a current food hygiene certificate?!
