is it really important for mothers to pick baby names with a significant meaning???

well i have a daughter already and her name is LeShaun (pronounced Le-like the french word for "the" and Sean) i have another baby on the way and i was thinkin about naming her Shaunique, that's just a name i made up (pronounced Sean and nique) Is it a good idea to make up names for my children or should i choose something of significance

mine dont have significant meaning, but i do like to know the history of the names.
theres nothing wrong with making up your own names, how else would so many different names have come about? i'm guessing Shaun is significant to you for you to want to use it in both your daughters' names?
the names are very similar but if that is what you want to name your child then go for it. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and congratulations xx

Hmm... as someone who was teased and harrased for YEARS because of their name (Hope). I would definately think about names and how others might percieve them. I don't see anything wrong with making up names. Shaunique sounds beautiful. Even the spelling of the name looks pretty.
It's up to you and what you would like to do. But... I think Shaunique sounds just fine.

I like both names but the are kinda the same and i think it will get confusing. I do like the name as a middle name just not first name.

A suggestion i have for a girl is ANAYA Shaunique

I love to know what stand behind the name, and I like to choose a name that I connect to the sound it makes and make feel good.
If Shaunique does it for you, go for it.

who cares what other people think it's ur choice ur baby. u might want to think about the future though. u'll be calling ur baby whatever u choose. when they go to school they don't want a name that could get them picked on but they want something unique. if it has meaning to u then u should name her Shaunique because it's totally unique!

Why on earth would you want to name your kids such similar names? It would be like naming your kids Alexander and Alexandra.
