First thing I do when I first open my eyes is think of many different things in my life that I am very grateful for. Then I enjoy the rest of the day with family, good friends and good food. At the end of the day I think again about how lucky I am to have all of those things.

Well I got up today surprisingly early. 8:00 a.m. Whoo that's too early for me.

Anyways I usually head on over to my aunt and uncles house with my dad and surprisingly this year my mom, even though she's always working like a monster on this holiday. It's not her favorite. We are both non - americans. But I still celebrate it. :)

So then anyways I get there get loads of hugs and comments mostly good, some slightly bad. Then I go in the living room sit around with my older, and younger cousins. While dinners still cooking. We watch the guys watch the most awful sport ever, football. And I hate most sports. We do switch channels every now and then to the parade.

Then my cousins and I head downstairs my little cousins usually break out the Xbox or PS2 and junk like that, and I'll sometimes play a round with them.

Then I go on the computer, like my older cousin has already have. We talk, we go on the internet, etc. We just try to keep ourselves entertained (very hard) while our stomachs are grumbling from all the delicous food.

Once dinner is finally ready we go back up the stairs into the warmer part of the house, we sit down at the table. Say what we're thankful for, maybe do a little prayer. Then eat!

Once we're done most of the guys head in the living room, and plop down on the couch. While the ladies set out the desert and break out the coffee. The kitchen table is then filled with magazines, fashion, gossip, and a ton of catalogs. While they talk about anything and everything. I usually grab a plate of desert along with my cousin sit down with them, and well talk.

Then after it's late and stuff we usually all start heading home.

I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.
Blondie.

I alternate years...

This year, I'm home alone, and will cook a 10lb bird with all the sides... I'll eat early, and then go serve food at the VFW lodge this evening.

EVEN years, I travel to my lil Brother's ranch where my sister-in-law holds a HUGE meal with her entire family. Last year, there were three turkeys: One that we deep-fried (outdoors), one we bought smoked, and one from the oven.

We wake up VERY early... help prepare the stuffing, eat breakfast, and then go feed the horses & goats. THEN the we set the table and get out of the kitchen !! The men loiter in the garage-shop-office area until it's feeding time or our presence is requested for kitchen help.

AFTER dinner, the boys do the dishes and the ladies go outside to enjoy the large bon-fire from the winter's scrap and brush. After dishes, we join them and drink beers, and just chat.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY ALL !!

Not like I did as a kid. That was ALWAYS a big family gathering around ours or my grandmas table with lots of food.

Now, most are gone, things have changed, there is no more big family gatherings.

I will go to church this morning to celebrate with fellow believers.

Then go to the Cafeteria!

Hey, you would be surprised at how many FAMILIES go there too. They don't want to cook anymore!

The whole family gets together and helps prepare for Thanksgiving. We cook, prepare the table and enjoy being together after 2 years. Turkey, homemade cranberry sauce, stove top stuffing:), corn, gravy from the turkey, yum

When I was younger, with the usual extended family dinner, the turkey, the cousins, etc. Now with small immediate family, living far away - go out for Japanese food, enjoy each others' company, and have no dishes to wash afterwards!
