In most cases, this would not be a problem. Shame on the other Arowana keepers posting for not even spotting this. This Chaca fish, is a BOTTOM feeder. If your Arowana is feeding off the bottom, then you are not doing something right to begin with. Normally, that should be all that needs to be said, but I know for some, that won't quite sink in.

Now, size could well come into play. If this is a case where the Chaca is like a full adult, and you're trying to put a brand new baby Arowana in, you just might have a problem with that. Even the bigger Arowana will sometimes venture to the lower levels of the tank, but it won't stay or linger there long. An Arowana certianly wouldn't target the Chaca as a food source. You shouldn't have problems unless like I said, very small Arowana, and very large Chaca. I'm kind of curious now, just what sized tank were you thinking to house both of these in?

Chaca Chaca is the native name of this fish, and it is the "real" name.It is also part of the taxonomic name. And it will be fine with almost any fish that it can't swallow.
BTW the name comes from the sound that the fish makes when removed from the water.

I have a 24inch sliver arowana, which is in with a 22 inch tiger shoval nose catfish, also a pair of oscars. It would depend on the size of the fish as the arowana may eat any fish that is smaller than itself or basically what it could fit in its mouth. So get a catfish that is the same size or bigger.

well, i also have a 24 inch arowana. chaca chaca excretes a toxic substance when stressed, and doesnt really move around, so i would not suggest it.
