Some idiots here think you're talking about now. We all now in '94 the GOP had the chance to reform many things. Clinton was a lame duck President in many aspects. Why not reform welfare, social security, and other things? Why did they actually increase government? They're all talk but no action.

Republicans never made an honest attempt to reform Social Security. Bush’s plan was ridiculous and did nothing to address projected shortfalls. It could not obtain sufficient support because it was a privatization scheme without an accompanying satisfactory fiscal plan.

There is no need for the reforms that Bush and his administration were proposing. I believe that American's saw through the attempt for this spend-thrift administration to try to access a large pot of funds that are dedicated to ensure the economic security of our "golden years".

I remember Bush trying to put 2% of your SS funds into private accounts but he couldn't get 60 votes in the Senate to move the bill out of committee. Thank you democrats.
Middle I haven't heard about problems in Chile, how about the three counties in Texas that opted out of SS for its country workers? Last I heard that retirees have been getting about $3,000 a month on average.
Bert T are you long winded and obtuse? The question was about Social Security not your falsehood filled rant.
But then again its fodder; the congress made the rules that authorized subprime loans, not Ronald Reagan.
George Bush was not on vacation his first 9 months in office, FYI he was only president for 8 months when 9/11 occurred. Math makes you out to be a liar. Of course since the Clinton administration won't let him occupy the transition offices for 42 days following the election where was he supposed to go?
Americans died in terrorists attacks when Clinton was in office, where is his indictment?
Libby was not convicted of outing Valerie Plame. A lie on your part. He was convicted of perjury during the investigation. His perjury? Not accurately recalling the events of a five minute meeting two years earlier.
Even the CIA denies that Plame was an active agent. Another lie for you.
Richard Armitage was the leaker according to the prosecutor and Bob Novak. Why isn't he in jail?
The rest is gobbletygook, but the UN and the Congress gave approval for military action in Iraq. One more lie you told today.

Because it was a bad plan and even the republicans knew it. Chile "reformed"/privatized its own pension plan(and Pinera from chile at the Cato institute is pushing privatization here) but it's not working. People don't have the "projected" amounts in their pension plans because greedy financial institutions take high fees. We can't really believe our financial institutions are less greedy, can we? Trust me, they are even more so.

GOP doesn't control the Supreme Court, there are only 4 Constitutionalists on the Court.
That is an excellent question though for when they controlled Congress and the White House. It just goes to show that a minority can clog things up. Even though SS is a mess and is only getting worse.

The President tried reform proposals. The GOP does not and did not "control" the Supreme Court. Your Republican bashing is going too far.
The left wing liberal loonies in Congress stopped the President by shouting him down in the media.
The left wing liberal loonies in the main stream media were complicit in killing any attempts at reform.
You forgot all of this? or recent history does not matter to you?
