They had the chance to make real changes, since they did not, isn't it realistic to assume they really want the freedom of choice for women - left or right - regardless of their rhetoric?

DooDooCool: Trust me, I promise to personally never have an abortion.

I agree with the Roe v Wade constitutional right argument, but why then are Republicans arguing it can be changed if only the country would vote GOP? We did and they did nothing. Now it is simply misleading.

If it were only that simple! It would require an overturning Row v. Wade between the Democrats on the Hill and a mostly liberal Supreme Court, good luck! No, I don't think that is a reasonable assumption.

Your logic is flawed. Your understanding of the law is non-existent. In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court determined that abortion was a constitutional right.
To overridee the decision, the constitution would have to be amended. To amend the constitution, the House would have to approve. The Senate would have to have 60 votes to overrid filibuster, the President would have to sign the amendment, it would have to go to the individual states for approval. 3/4 of the states would have to approve the amendment.
It would not happen.

It is because you can only put limitations on it. I hate abortions as much as the next person, but their are certain cases where in fact a mother would have to get an abortion. My only example that I see fit for abortions as that if the child is threatening the mothers life, and if she gives birth to the child, it will end up killing her from blood lose.

But, you have it right, they really did want that freedom of choice for women.

Why stop there remember all the other stuff in Contract on America.. Zero on abortion except late term; remember all the-if we had the votes we'd send constitutional amendment to the states, Zero on balanced budget and balanced budget amendment. Zero on line item veto. Only a few stuck to their pledge of limiting their term.

If all women knew that they have the power to Vito war and keep their legs crossed. You as a man wouldn't have to worry about abortion. Abortion will not stop due to there is big money in it now and people don't care when or where they get pregnant with innocent souls, just kill them. this is our law.
Live with it or keep your pants on and open up one of the same kind of clinics.

Don't you pay any attention?... they did try, and in fact finely got the "Partial Birth Abortion" limits passed... and even the efforts that they did make were vilified in the press.. which I assume you applauded.

excellent question...perhaps it's because politicians are powerless to change the law no matter what they claim
