If the man is gay sure you can. If not a man rarely will actually be a friend with you unless he eventually wants to sleep with you. How come people don't know this. How come people don't know all men cheat? I guess you will all find out the hard way.

It's a matter of choice. Sure, sometimes "chemistry" can happen, but you can choose not to act upon it and it will fade over time. It takes honesty on the part of both people as to their intentions to just be friends, that's true. But just because a crush develops at some point, that doesn't mean the whole thing has to be ruined.

Of course. When I was single, I had many men who were 'just friends'. We enjoyed each others company and talked on the phone; helped each other out with relationship problems. We'd go to clubs and just dance and it was great having someone of the opposite sex who liked you for yourself, without any expectations or pressure to deal with.

Since being married, still have some of the same male friends but they are also friends with my husband. I do now talk to husband about my 'issues' but we enjoy the company of our mutual friends as well.

Yes.

My best friend is a man and we're just friends and nothing more.

We say 'I love you' every time we speak and mean it purely platonically (sp?). There's NO sexual tension and we never have and never will see each other in that sense - and we've talked about our odd relationship at great length.

Often when men and women are 'just friends' it's a cover for something more, or they see each other as their brother or sister. But there's nothing wrong with that!

It is uncommon though.

Of course they can. I have had many very good women friends. In my job I have travelled with several of these women. Sometimes there was even attraction between us. However, I always let them know I was married and the sexual tension was treated as something to be laughed about. We always understood that it would never be acted upon.

Of course they can. Would you believe I have had more men than woman as friends. And this is due to the fact that I can be myself more around guys and not have to worry about actually offending them. No intentions needed, just good clean down-to-earth fun. Or could it be I'm a tom-boy?

Sure men and women can be friends, its all about the maturity level of the individual, if your imature and lets say your boyfriend has a female friend, you wont be able to handle it, you will become angry and grow to resent your boyfriends friend, and in turn the relationship will fail, but if your a mature woman who is confident in her own skin and knows what she wants and who she is, she will handle the situation with class and maturity.

yes i think it is possible. my younger cousin is a guy and we are bestfriends. hehe but for someone who i am not related to? i think so still. but i have had more experience with the guys falling for me or me falling for them. its difficult because when two people are best friends like that, they tend to like the same things, enjoy the same things, common beliefs and usually have good laughs. now, how different is that from dating this person? not a lot is it? thats why its difficult to draw the line. some people are good at it though. especially if u see this person as a blood relative. but like i said, it is possible.
