Are there any silly beliefs you used to have as a kid that you can share?

Question

For example, when I was probably 9 or 10, I was told that if you swallowed watermelon seeds you got pregnant, whether boy or girl. We believed that for quite some time!

So, do you have anything similarly stupid you used to believe because your more "knowledgable" friends told you it was true?

When I was really young, I thought the vacuum cleaner could suck me up. I was terrified of it.

LOL! My cousin told me that if you swallowed watermelon seeds a watermelon would grow in you belly.

I think the worst thing was when my older sister (she was 10 years older) threatened me because I wanted to hang out with her friends at a sleepover she was having. She told me if I didn't leave them alone that she would make me eat a fly and that it would have babies in my tummy and they would bore a hole in my belly to escape! Isn't that awful!

I also believed that the song Legend of the Wooley Swamp by the Charlie Daniels Band was a true story, and it scared me sh**less every time that I heard it!

I could go on with these all day! : )

If I ate the crust on my bread it would make my hair curley ... It was already curley... Babies came from hospitals you just had to buy them ...

My aunt told my other aunt that if a boy kissed you hard on the lips you'd get pregnant .. my poor aunt came home crying because some boy grabbed her and kissed her hard so she thought she was pregnant! It was hilarious!

when i was about 5 or 6..i thought cats could fly after watching a cartoon....i actually went upstairs and threw our cat out of the window..and it broke all its legs...my parents weren,t very pleased..nor was the cat to come to think of it..luckily it survived
