God is the first mover. The laws of physics state that anything in motion will stay in motion (until stopped by some force). How did things get moving in the first place? How did life begin? Scientists say life on Earth began about 4.6 billion years ago, Big Bang Theory, and all that. Well, who caused the Big Bang? God.
Scientist argue that the Theory of Evolution doesn't match the Bible's version of God creating the world in 6 days. Man came up with seconds, minutes, hours, etc...God's concept of time and our concept of time is different.
God created the Big Bang and put Earth in motion. Evolution occurred in 6 days to Him, but billions of years for us.
I know this is a long answer, but I have a BA in Philosophy(from American University) and I'm a Christian(non-denominational). I believe in religion and science.

Read C.S. Lewis's "Mere Christianity"....brilliant 20th Century, Oxford educated, philosopher who was THE leading athiest of the time...until he had an epiphany. This book deals more with "is there a god?" than Christianity....was written for those who are REALLY searching for God and then leads you to why Christianity is actually far different from any other religion (he actually talks about how Christianity is not a religion at all, but a relationship with God) and the only "intellectual" choice. Interesting read to say the least.

Yes it is me ...and You and everyone is a GOD. The manifestation and structure of the Universe is amazing and in harmony? and so beyond our perception to understand. We might be able to perceive a new dimension soon..
But in the mean while we do not know a thing about what you are asking only maybe a hint because there is so much harmony and beauty and perfect structure And that's the latest news on the subject!
Ah, I almost forgot: there are of course the 12 Greek Gods I like! (They describe/represent perfectly how the world came to be from Chaos, and its nature and lessons we have to learn (like the things Hercules had to do)
They represent different qualities.
You get the idea. If u want to discuss more on this let me know.
Ha,ha Also, Yahoo! answers is god! they have all the answers!

Well, this is a difficult one for me to answer. I beleive that yes there is a god but i like to take the bible to more of a philisophical level than just beleiving everything out of it. And how do we have proof that there was nothing that god created earth out of. And we do have proof of biblical events. There is a giant wooden bat on top of a mountain in Turkey and the Garden of Eden is under the Persian Gulf. Explain that in a way other than bilblicaly

No. There is no god, just like there is no Santa. There is no evidence whatsoever and the very idea flies in the face of natural law...which has an abundance of evidence.
The definition of a 'god' contradicts all that we have learned.
Every argument for a god rests on a false metaphysical premise. For example, god created the universe. You can't create something our of nothing and there is no nothing.
God can do anything? Sorry, entities can only act in accord with their nature.
The whole idea of a god is a contradiction of every valid metaphysical principle. No argument will get you from this world to some supernatural world.

the biggest proof for the exixtence of God is life. How did it start? who was the 'first cause'? atheist find this question impossible to answer. Also, consider this :the number line .it begins from infinity on the negative side and ends at infinty on the positive side.where did the number line begin and end? critics who say God does not exist because he Must have a beginning get it wrong here.also that you cannot fully explain the nature of God is not proof in itself that God does not exist.can you prove pythagoras theorem with an acid test? probably not; but does that proove the theorem wrong? no.

Think about this:
If we accept God as an all powerful and loving being then he is either incompetent or evil.
If a God wanted to stop the evils in the world then he is not 'compassionate' and therefore cannot exist as the God we have been led to think about.
If God can NOT stop the evils in the world then he is devoid of power and, once again, fails to function as an all powerful being.
Given these two facts it is therefore quite possible to deduce that if a God does exist he is apathetic at best and sees the world as a run-away child who he CAN control, but can't be bothered to get off his **** to do it.
(and this is coming from a Catholic!)

yes shaun,
if you have to answer it in a classroom then you must be prepared well. there have been several attempts to categorically to tell what the god is. and all of them have just finished in contradictions.
whenever you try to define it in the language such contradictions are bound to occur.
my article "God or No God" has shown it in length at my site
http://www.lightinlife.com/
and the proper url is
http://www.lightinlife.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=77&Itemid=105
then if this is the position and the god cannot be defined then what is to be done. i have shown that it is possible to be the god rather than to know the god. it is given in my another article "The Post Quantum God" at a url
http://www.lightinlife.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=78&Itemid=106
you go through both of these articles. you will find other material on this topic

i cant give a yes or no answer. but i think god gives human being something to believe in. if a person doesnt have something to believe in then there life has no meaning. thats why there is so many different religions and cultures. how do we know which one is correct? i guess all we have to go on is science and we will see what happens when we pass on.
