When compare with petrol version, diesel models are pricey, what is the main reason?, is there any different in excise duty for diesel models?

Diesel engines are made to different specifications, and the components have to be built stronger to handle the higher compression. Plus, many auto manufacturers buy their diesel engines from a diesel engine manufacturer instead of building them in house.

Diesel engine needs to be more robust and strong compared with the same power petrol engine.

Thats why Diesel models are expensive.

Because they have higher resale value and the materials needed for a diesel engine should be more tougher than a petrol version.
