Americans celebrate Thanksgiving at a different time than Canadians which is one of those weird things about the "colonies". Canada celebrates in October (the 2nd Monday).

Christmas is a Christian holiday & is celebrated on Dec. 25th. I think Ukraninan's celebrate after New Year's (feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong). And, there are many cultures that don't celebrate Christmas as you are hopefully aware.

Christmas is the same on the 25th, and Thanksgiving is a rememberance of when our Pilgrim fathers united with the Native Americans and had a big feast on Thanksgiving. We Americans get together with family and close friends and sometimes neighbors to share in a feast of unity.

Thanksgiving is generally only a Canadian (in October) and American (in November) Holiday that relates to the bringing in of the last harvest for the year, and giving thanks for the blessings of the year.

Then there's Christmas...which has nothing to do with anything but (depending on your belief structure) enriching the retail store owners in an attempt to buy the affection of your family, to celebrating the birth of of a specific Jew some 2000 years ago.

No, it's not the same.
Christmas is the same day all around the world. Thanksgiving is in November in the U.S.A, and October in Canada. It's a day to eat turkey and be thankful for what you have.

Thanksgiving celebrates the arrival of our countries forefathers to the shores of America. It's not really something celebrated world wide like Christmas would be..We take the day off and reflect on what we're thankful for.
