When you strike the iron while hot, one wrong move and the mould is destroyed for good.
To strike it to make it hot, is more difficult but you can give it the shape you chose with safety.

If I have a hot temper I strike while the iron is hot, but I'm less impulsive now, so probably not.

Oddly the latter.
I have actually worked with metal and a hammer and fashioned things witht he heat of my blows alone. I think I have answered this before but hitting while the iron is hot is easy to do but it requires you have a furnace to heat the metal in. I hit hard and fast and pound the shape out of my body of art I am working on to make is me and my work one. It is almost a religious experience to see the beauty come out of the raw material.
But, I choose to be the source of the heat.
