Hi there,
I'm thinking of having the coil fitted that has a hormone release on it. As I'm suffering very heavy periods and want to avoid them if poss.
Just wondered what this is like to have from any of you that have had one please?

What about Evening Primrose Oil? And adjusting your diet? And getting some exercise?

Please don't think I'm being unsympathetic - I tended to become homocidal at my time of the month, a combination of the pain and the hormonal overload, and I did a combination of the three because I wanted to lose weight and generally be in better health. It actually helped my menstrual cycle, which I hadn't really expected, I'd sort of given up hope of relief until I hit the menopause. I'm now 39.

A friend of mine had the coil fitted, she fell pregnant but not only that the coil had moved which ended up aborting the baby.It is different for everyone, i have 3 boys, my husband had a vasectomy and iam on the pill only because of my heavy periods ,you could try the pill or have the coil fitted,it is different for everyone, good luck

I had one fitted a year ago and it is absolutely the best thing that I have ever done! My periods are virtually non existent now, I do not get hardly any pain and my PMT has almost disappeared! I say go get one fitted ASAP! x

After reading every ones comments on here I don't know whether to be worried or thankful that the coil has been a life changer for me!

i have had the coil for 7 years now, its not the hormone one though and it has made my periods heavier and more painful, you can also get infections that can be linked to having it inside you, if you do get it, make sure you go for the check up a few weeks later, i never and ended up with all sorts of complications, hope this helped x

This is the Myrena coil, I had one for 3 weeks but had to have it removed as the hormones made me a bit loopy and it caused me a lot of pain. But my sister has one and she thinks its great and it has stopped her periods all together.

i had real bad heavy periods. and i got this as it ran in my family both my mom and grand mother had it..

i had to go on the pill when i was 15..

my mother was a bit like u.. she had the coil fitted but she wouldnt recommend it. she said it only eased her periods slightly, and it actually kept slipping down...

but everyone is different

I've met a couple ladies that tried the coil and they had problems with it. One of them had a huge problem with heavy bleeding.
