My vote is Shearer ok he is not experienced but lets face it he has the time to get experienced.

He knows English football he has the right attitude and most importantly the passion for England.

Lets face it in football anything can happen.. but if we played like and English side and showed the world what we are really made of... Even if we lost we would still have our dignity.

Murinho is a flake..

He is good when he is on top but he does not have what it takes when the chips are down. The weakness of all arrogant people.

He has no passion for the England side and that is what is lacking. I also think tactically Murinho is predictable. He does not have the imagination to get the most out of a squad of players and would constantly look to bring new players in and disrupt the squad.

Above all else his allegiance to his "Chelsea Chums" would split the players in the dressing room.

Unprofessional and hot-headed.

Passion for England may not be enough but it is essential and Murinho doesn't have it.

By Chelsea Chums I mean: Terry, Cole, Lampard 3 first team regulars over a quarter of the team is significant in my view. Murinho holds grudges upsets people and is volatile.. It wouldn't work

I admire your choice of alan shearer i am from newcastle and have been supporting them since i was a kid.He is legend in newcastle the best player we have ever had and he's a geordie himself.I think he would do an excellent job he will get allot of respect by the england players and he was also the captain of newcastle and they were a different team when he used to play just look at them now they still arent doing well since he has gone. However i dont think he would take the job there is way too much pressure in that job.I even think ian wright would make a great england manager he full of passion and he's still young the players could relate to him.We need an english manager not a foreigner whoever it is next im ceratin they would do a better job than mclaren

Whoever they get - they can't do any worse than the last. I wouldn't want the job. I also think that they shouldn't just blame the manager they should look at the players after all they are the ones on the field!! Look to the lower clubs put them in a England shirt and they will player with all their passion for English footie as they know it would probably be the only time they ever get to wear the shirt.

Fabio Capello has said he would be interested & I think he would be a good bet. He has won the Champions League & he has won the Italian & Spanish Leagues.

Shearer would be an unwise appointment, not only because he is inexperienced but because that inexperience would give the players an easy excuse. If we appoint a genuinely top class coach like Capello (or several others), then when the team played badly the players would have to be honest with themselves. At the moment, they pay lip service towards being honest about their under performance but I am not confessed they really believe it themselves.

I think we should choose the best available man for the job regardless of his nationality. I'd rather have a sucessful foreigner than a loser Englishman.
Taylor, Hoddle, Keegan, Mclaren need I say more.

Given the choice of anybody at all I would choose Alex Fergusson but obviously he is not going to be interested. So I would go for Martin O'Neill. Sam Allardyce might also be a good choice though.

Well, big Sam Allardyce would certainly have the guts to kick their backsides, which is partly what they need.
The trouble is, as we've said before, with so many foreign players in the top flight these days, the manager is very restricted in his choice of team. Why not get rid of some!

Fabio Capello, Steve Coppell and Harry Redknapp seem to the be the only ones in the frame apparently (although from what Steve Coppell has said I wouldn't say he's looking for the job). Out of them three, then you'd have to go for Fabio Capello because he's the only person who's expressly put himself forward for the job and he has a great track record. It doesn't really matter who you or anyone thinks _should_ do the job if they don't want it and Alan Shearer does not want it.

It doesn't matter who takes over, the problem is they don't get enough time to train together.

So unless we end up one of those countries where the entire international team comes from the same league club we are always going to struggle.

Lets face it, even if they were allowed more time to train together how many of the players would want to? Because they get extortionate wages the players think it makes them above the game, and they are so far up their own arses half of them wouldn't turn up for the extra training sessions anyway.

Whoever it is, he/she should NOT be chosen by the FA. Over recent years that august body has demonstrated clearly that they have no real idea of what is needed to run a p**s up at a brewery let alone our national game. I suggest they delegate the task to a forum consisting of four or five professional players and managers who actually KNOW what they are talking about.

Murinho is definitely odds on favourite, he has the ego to bring us up from the bottom and he nothing to lose, so proving he could do that would make him 1 rich and 2 one of the best managers.Plus he has experience with alot of world class players.

My vote would be for Peter Taylor.
He has the most international experience of any manager, admittedly with the U21 England side. He has brought forward all of the decent international standard players for England. He has stood in as caretaker manager for the national senior team and was successful. He has assisted in the coaching of the senior side. He has a fully proven track record, is comfortable with the media, has been a loyal servant to the game and is widely respected by all in the profession. He should have been offered the job years ago.
