I understand where you are coming from. When I was 19, I had no idea my love life is going to turn out like this. I thought I'd marry my first love!
After the fizzling off of the initial courting period, usually you settle down to a more comfortable feeling. At this point, each may take one another for granted and start to behave as they please. The build up of little annoyances and anger lead to a rocky patch. Usually if you love each other, you'd just kiss and make up after a fight. But if there is no more love or there is a third party. ie. new girl/guy/parents, the couple may be forced/choose to part or break up.
For me, this usually happen during the 3-year mark. You sort of know by then if the relationship is workable or you should move on.

There alot of things that could go wrong. Alot of times when two people get together they mistake lust and love, when two people get to know one another better sometimes they just aren't what they thought each other was. Bottom line is know relationship is perfect they all have problems down the road. The most important thing is to pick and choose your battles carefully. Compromise is the best answer without it on both sides there is know way that the relationship would ever work.

Nobody is the same. It was ment to be that way. When you have a relationship, you have to consider that just like you have likes and dislikes, the other person does too. Nine times out of ten, those disagreements clash. This occurs when respect for one another is taken for granted.

Whenever two people are together, there will always be problems that come up. When they are at odds over those problems, they are going through a rockly patch.

well what happens is when one person's selfishness starts to rub up against the other person's selfishness....always starts out small and then grows slowly until there is either all out war or one person capitulates (usually the girl) which works for a while but then the buried resentment in the dominated one grows into passive aggressivebehavior and then it's just a matter of time before you got 2 miserable people....
