Something would have to happen that would affect a lot of peoples everyday lives for them to leave their warm, comfy houses, in exchange for the possibility of violence and arrest.

There also needs to be an alternative ideology to fight for, and I can hardly imagine people getting together and fighting for the Tories to get into power! What would be the point? There'd be no political difference.

I don't think most people see things as so bad that the whole system needs overhauling, some things do need changing, perhaps a few riots might do the trick?

The ultimate nature of the British populace in the 21st century is one of apathy. In the last three decades, we've taken so much crap, from the Winter of Discontent to the Nuclear Winter of the Soul that was the Thatcher Years, to the reign of the Joker (Mr Blair just reminds me of the Batman villain - able to send people to their deaths in faraway places with a grin), and now we have Gordon "scenery-chewer" Brown. Possibly the British might rise in revolution if they ever banned caravanning and Big Brother?

There won't be a revolution because a huge proportion of the country has massive debts (mortgages, credit cards, loans, etc) and people with debts can't afford instability.

So, the current administration has a big part of the electorate fully trained and ready to follow any madness, whether it's crazy wars or ID cards.

I wish it wasn't true... but it is.

Revolution doesn't work. How well is France working? They had a revolution and gangsters took over power in the chaos. Even today, are French people doing any better?

How about Russia? Decades of terror ensued after their revolution. Joseph 'Stalin' (he named himself, 'Man of Steel') caused the deaths of many millions of ordinary people.

Democracy must be the most awkward and unsatisfying way of changing laws but in its defense, it does protect us from extremism, from being taken for complete mugs by a frightened and cynical establishment or from being left vulnerable to chaos by political thugs. I think democracy is okay. What does the asker think?

Politics also needs impassioned people who believe in the interests of the whole community. If you are someone like this, we really need you: please enter the world of politics.

Hopefully sooner rather than later. I despair of this country at the moment. A government not fit for purpose, ridiculous political correctness, rehabilitation rather than punishment of criminals ( I do believe in rehabilitation but after they have served a punishment). Full to bursting point prisons meaning early release for prisoners, Out of control teenagers, Police force bogged down with red tape, immigration, Unaffordable housing, the list goes on and on...........

Next Wednesday afternoon, November 28th, 3.15 p.m. sharp, outside the Houses of Parliament.

Now, tell me, is that enough for me to be hauled in under the prevention of terrorism act, or do I need to be Muslim as well.

You know, just to give the cops an excuse for the current National prejudice in this regard.

Not until there is house price crash. The British will put up with anything as long as the price of their house is rising. Sad, init, we got the moral fibre of a junkyard dog !!

When enough people in the country wise up and start plotting to overthrow the government.

What would these revolutionaries replace the government with though? Is anarchy preferable?

Because, we are far too sensible and far too apathetic.
If it did happen, who is going to replace the current set of politicians? More pesky politicians, and even worse, ones we didn't vote in.

We are the least worst country in the world.
Let's leave it as it is, shall we?
