I certainly do like History. Do you? I'll tell you why I do...

When I was a child of seven my class was taken to the school library and told to choose a book, any book. I chose a book called 'Custer's Last Stand.' Given the choice and through free will (not an idea that is shared or understood by all) I chose a book on one part of American History.

Freud had a theory - "Show me the child of seven, and I'll show you the man." That means by the age of seven we as human beings already have an understanding of what we want to be, but maybe we do not know how exactly we can achieve it.

The first book I ever bought was #1 in Ballantine's World War II series - Afrika Korps. I bought several more of these books and dozens of others by the time I reached high school. Since that day at the library I have never looked back - I only widen the range of the books on history I read, or read as many as I can on one topic to get a fuller understanding.

For me the leisurely pursuit of the study of History has been a life-long passion. I come to Yahoo! Answers to answer questions, learn more about History, and observe what perceptions others have about certain periods of History.

I am fascinated about how the world came to be the way it is. So many people worked and fought hard, on the battlefield and in civilian life, often sacrificing everything they held dear, in order to make the world what it is today. There are so many things about our daily lives that we take for granted without thinking of who made this possible. These people deserve to be recognized for everything they they did. The least we can do is learn who they are so that they are not forgotten.

Dear,

I like History.

The reasons are as follows;

The word is before. The word is now. To know what is before. To know what are the different of now from before. How much development that we achieve from before. Why the people before are Good. Why the people are good but lack of will power etc., etc. Why people now blames. Blames the Leaders, Blames the ruling parties and most of all Blames GOD. Now no not Feudal Systems. Why we are still like the feudal system in some countries of the world.

I like history, mainly ancient and medieval-era history, because it's cool to read about these things and realize people actually lived like that, and those things actually happened.

I mean, to think that all those things in the Crusades or in ancient Rome or Alexander's famous campaigns, all those things actually happened.

It's cool to think about and comtemplate, it just is. I don't know why.

although ancient history is not 100% acurate, there are some truth in what they say and lies are often recognized easily by historians. but history is the best way to know who we are and what we will become. its the thousands of years of our achievement packed to create a story that never fails to inspire.

I simply love history because we must know where we've been in the past, to map out a plan for where we are going in our future.

Yes I do because I find it fascinating to learn how people lived in days gone by.Not just the battles, but the ordinary folks' lives. It's all what made us who we are today, hopefully, though not always, learning from others' mistakes.
