Have you checked that the cold water is working on your bathroom sink? If so, then call a plumber as the problem lies with the shower unit and not your water supply. If not then my advice is this ...
The hot water is coming from an internal tank and that's ok which means there's a problem with your external supply. Make sure your water hasn't been turned off at the mains inside the house and then ring your water supplier, ie. Thames Water or whoever, to see if they've turned the water off because of a burst water main, repairs, etc. A plumber would only help if the problem was inside the house and will charge you a call out fee to find out so you're better checking with the water company first. Good luck!

Odds are this is a single handle shower control fixture, and was it recently replaced? If so, then it was most likely installed incorrectly. Most of the newer fixtures have a no scald feature so that young children and older folks with less sensitive skin don't jump in and crank up the water and get burned. They need to be properly set though, when they are installed. If not set correctly, you will get nothing but cold or maybe nothing but hot water from them. Incidentally, if you're getting any water at all from the fixture it means the supply is not shut off. Even though the hot water comes from an internal tank that tank has to have cold water pushing into it to push the hot water out.
