I spent 2 or 3 days not sleeping or eating and often when i closed my eyes i kept seeing faces, some that looked like normal people looking ar me but mostly demonic, five times scarier than anything ive ever seen on any horror movie. The visions have stopped now but i found that the best way of dealing with them was to stare back at them with contempt and patronise them in my thoughts, just generally laugh in their face, then they tended to just look frustrated and disapointed that they could'nt intimidate me. I dont know for sure if these were visual hallucinations or something far more sinister. Any suggestions?

I've had that happen, when my depression was really severe and I was suicidal. When feeling suicidal and ready to commit it, I just couldn't go through with it out of fear. In the end the mental stress is so severe that a person has a mental breakdown and can lose touch with reality.
It was very frightening at first and these images would appear unbidden and without warning once my eyes were shut.
Lack of sleep and being stressed and unwell can make the chances of this occurring higher than it normally would.

I guess some thing's hunting you- you may just not know it. Maybe it's something you did, but have forgotten, but is filed in your subconscious mind. Maybe when you shut your eyes they appear, maybe trying to make you remember. So maybe you need to fix something, you just don't know it yet.

Lack of sleep induces psychosis, and that may be the reason for the delusions
