AUSTRALIAN ELECTION: If John Howard loses his seat in Bennelong yet win the election, can he still be PM?

Just couriois. I say he wouldnt because he has to win his seat like any other member or minister to stay in Parliament. My dad doesnt know he wanted me to find out so this is where I came!!

And, has any other Prime Minister ever lost his local seat while being PM??

If Howard looses his parliamentary seat, then he will be unable to be prime minister,, the party will have to elect a new leader.
