i don't know, but the stupid Beckhamania is driving people who are ALREADY fans of soccer crazy. it's as if he's the only person on the field when you watch a game. i won't be surprised when we miss a goal one day because they're watching Beckham on the bench. i'm so sick of it.

attendance HAS shot up for MLS games though.

>>Let's be honest, soccer is boring to watch, it's slow, the players prentend to be injured so they can have penalty shots...it's well so feminine! Ask anybody in america I'm sure they would perfer watching a game of hockey or football anytime..but soccer, no.<< -Josie

girl, you're an idiot. you obviously know nothing about soccer. it's a complex sport and unless you understand the game and can spot a good run or a good cross then you're going to be bored because you don't get a lot of goals. many American's like instant gratification. the players who constantly dive are actually looked down upon by most soccer players and fans. so no, they don't "all" pretend to be injured. SLOW? are you kidding? what about baseball? it's the slowest ever. and you DO know that Hockey and Soccer are basically the same game only one's on ice and the other is on grass, right? haha i'm guessing you're actually not even a SPORTS fan period considering you didn't know that.

edit: and to the woman who posted the link of the soccer player being a big baby, here are some pictures of soccer players bloody too.

it just amazes me how everyone is so threatened by soccer for whatever reason and have to put it down so much. i'm not a fan of baseball but i respect people who enjoy it.

Probably.

In order for America to become interested television is going to have to become interested and television doesn't like soccer. Not enough brreaks where commercials can be dropped in.

Watch an N-F-L or N-B-A game if you don't know what I mean.

It was brave of him to try, but I don't think ppl in North America want soccer anyway...Let's be honest, soccer is boring to watch, it's slow, the players prentend to be injured so they can have penalty shots...it's well so feminine! Ask anybody in america I'm sure they would perfer watching a game of hockey or football anytime..but soccer, no.

i think he will unfortunately. a big part of the reason why he is getting publicity here is because he's considered more of a celebrity rather than a athletic superstar. i wish it was different though! I like soccer!

Sadly, yes. He is just not masculine enough. He comes across as a pussy whipped, squeaky, dork who is overdressed and over groomed by his wife. They just really came off poorly, and while soccer is modestly enjoyed in America, it is just never gonna be as popular here as Football (American style).
