The Sahara stretches from the West to the East of Africa covering many countries. If such a phone existed why should anyone use when Sat. phones can be used anywhere on the globe.

yes, that's right, but it has no number, you see, it's made for people who get lost so that they can call for delivery food, water, rescue, that kind of stuff..but the place is actually full of skeletons of poor bastards who had no coins..
think about it who's gonna call a booth in the middle of the desert?
