depends when you first took it. if you took it on the day of your period, then it's effective immediately. if you take it the sunday after your period, you should use something for a while. it should say what to do when you get your pills. it comes with the long paper with all the stuff on it, tells you what to do.

its not guaranteed for the first 4 weeks of your cycle so you should use condoms for this time until you are safe.
Also start taking it on the first day of your period so you don't stuff your cycle up.
