i just got a argentine tegu its still small i have it in a 55 gal long tank how long can it stay in there for?

please help

Till it starts to seem to big for it or is pacing the tank.

They are pretty active and need HUGE cages. I had might in a 6 foot x2x2 cage but it was too small, so they're now in a cage thats 8 feet long, 6 feet high and 3 feet wide. Its three stories; they have a top part with ramps and ledges and a bottom part they can bury themselves in.

well the rule of thumb is that the tank should be twice the size of the lizard, so till its no longer twice the size of the lizard.
