How can Phil Jackson say Kwame Brown is missed? How can the Lakers keep him on the team, all do respect to him as a person. As a player he is horrible, he can't even catch the ball and hold on to it and has no moves. So he is 7', big deal...he is a total liability...All take second year Andrew any day...I have friends on the east coast and now I know why he was booed out of Washington...and booed everytime he touched the ball!

Bynum should start and get 30 mins (when he gets fit enough). Kid is a monster. They keep Kwame on because he is a big body to throw at the shaq's, howard, amare's etc. just a door filler. I still would probably take him over eddy curry. at least he can sort of rebound. mihm is a waste of time. lakers need to draft another good C.

True, Bynum is better. True, he makes lots of mistakes. But in the Lakers right now, with Bynum being a youngster and Mihm not healthy yet, we need a big body for D and Kwame is it. Remember what he did in Phoenix 2 years ago right before he was mysteriously accused of sexual assault. We could have won it up 3-1 but once he was not in the same mind frame, the Lakers couldn't even keep it close. Yeah, if the Lakers had a chance to trade him, they should have and I'm sure they would have. But if nobody wants him and you cant get what he's worth (Butler) then the Lakers have to keep him and help him become a better player. Not every first pick is as good as others. Kobe is the best and he was 13th. Bynum 10th. Same Bowie was picked over MJ and Hakeem. Bottom line, he is a 7 foot body the Lakers could use right now. The only thing this team needs is D and Odom. If he is on Fire(20-10-7), then we win, if he is only getting 7-10 then we lose.

The Lakers are a franchise in construction. In regards to Kwame Brown, I see him as replaceable. He may have a defensive presence, but his statistics are not consistent. Phil Jackson must know this because his triangle offense focuses on getting good looks for the backcourt like Lamar and Kobe. This has switched since Shaq went to Miami. As of now, I see Chris Mihm starting until Bynum is ready to take over. Its funny, because Kwame was the 1st overall draft pick. He came fresh out of high school and went straight to the elite, and sometimes players can't make the transistion well.

Hey RMO,

i agree with you that Kwame Brown is a chump offensively with the worst set of hands ever.

His only value to the Lakers is on the defensive end of the floor as demonstrated last week vs San Antonio and Houston (Yao Ming says Kwame guards him the best). He has also been pretty helpful against Stoudemire of the Suns.

i think he was especially missed tonight only because of the injury to Turiaf (they've had to watch his minutes because he's still recovering from the ankle sprang) and Bynum is apparently only good for like 30 minutes before he runs out of gas.

i think if Kwame can accept his role as just a defensive type of guy. And the Lakers can not go through these phases where they want to feed him the ball and run the offense through him- they'd be just fine. Off course if you can upgrade trade him away and get those $9 million off the books -- but he may be valuable in the West because of all the big-guys. We could have used him defensively tonight-- and that's tough coming from a guy who really, really dislikes Kwame.

Go Lakers!

I'll keep my answer short and simple: Kwame Brown bought into the hype that he should skip college and enter the draft. SOMEHOW he was the #1 pick and MJ saw something in him that no one else could. If Kwame would've went to college for 2-3 years and developed a game, I still believe he would've been a top 3 pick. The money still would be there for him if he had been patient. His physique made you think he was capable of making an impact...NOT!!! I don't think he'll ever learn to play the game. Too bad!

Kwame does things that doesnt show up on state sheets. He is probably one of the low post defenders in the game. And all that is from his size. He's not athletic enough to score consistently but he's big enough that he can consistently slow down big men. Duncan only averages like 13 points a game vs. Kwame, when Duncan usually scores 7 more. Plus Duncan's rebs also drops

Man I absolutely hate Kwame. He is a lost case on offense. I think phil jackson has accepted that and has maximized his abilities on defense

his defensive presence is missed quite a bit by the Lakers now that he's injured (Ilooks like he'll be out a month)

IN the Indiana game 2 nights ago, the Lakers gave up like 20 offensive rebounds, thats ridiculous. That shouldn't happen with kwame in the game.

Tonight, our pick and roll defense was horrible. Kwame usually shows up on the top of the pick and just stays there long enough with the ball handler so that the Laker who got picked off by the screen can recover...there was none of that by Odom, Radmonovic, Turiaf, Mihm and Bynum

Phil likes Kwame on the defensive end. he is an active big body that can clog up the paint, contest shots and can just rebound or tip balls out and give enough space for his teammates to rebound

Kwame's presence was vital against San Antonio last week...Ducan had a horrible horrible shooting night...he went lke 2 for 14 against Kwame with 5 poitns and 4 rebounds.

The very next night Kwame locked down Yao in the 4th quarter and forced him into half a dozen misses

I really hate Kwame for just messing up those gimme baskets , dropping passes set up by the hard work of Kobe and other lakers but he is our only true big man...he can keep up with the likes of Garnett, Duncan, Amare, Shaq, etc....thats where his importance to his team comes in, not his offensive abilities...we've given up on him on that side of that floor and we have enough weapons on offense already

He's a big man and he gives match up problems to small teams such as Phoenix. His defense skills are okay and the Lakers are hoping one day sooner than later that he would focus on basketball the whole season.
