I have this <1% label of one certain liquid in a solution. Does it mean there is more or less than 1% of that liquid? This is a simple question, but I just am not sure about the meaning...

My guess is that there is more than 1% of that liquid.

That means less than 1%.

Think of it like this:

x < 1%

If u want not to make a mistake;say 4 example: <1% = density of the liquid<1% = density of the liquid is less than1%. :)

It means less than 1%. I always had trouble with the > and < signs until someone told me to think of the sign as an alligator. The alligator is hungry so it always points it's mouth (the open end) at the larger of the two items.
