My employer is trying to tell me it's 40.5 cents a mile. But someone else told me it's 48.5 cents a mile. I need the correct milage and an official website to prove it!

The IRS publishes charts that are the "presumed" value for re-reimbursement. I've linked to the current one below.

I wanted to check, so I have, and Wisconsin does NOT require an employer to reimburse expenses for mileage anyway.

The governing rule, therefore, is what it says in your contract. If it isn't spelled out there, then he doesn't have to pay you anything. If he doesn't, or if he gives you less than the IRS rate, then the difference can be taken as a tax deduction.

First and foremost, I suspect you had best find a new job. Anyone that distrusts their boss that much over 8 cents a mile isnt going to be a good employee.

Secondly, at 8 cents a mile, unless it's 30,000 miles, is it really worth worrying about? To the degree you are, I mean, this is really bothering you, isn't it?
