Well, I'm not pretending to speak on behalf of fat women everywhere, but here it goes. I don't like regular coke, but I love Diet Coke. Personally I haven't actually eaten in a MacDonald's in about a decade, but the same goes for any other fast food place. If I want a soft drink I'll usually order Diet Coke or Perrier. Fat people aren't more stupid than other people regardless of what you seem to think. Mostly it's just a matter of personal taste.

Well, I have never ordered a super size meal, but I don't drink regular coke. If I drink a coke I drink a diet one. Not because I am on a diet or because I am worried about the calories or whatever, I simply prefer the taste of the diet coke; the regular coke is way to sweet for me. I usually drink water, I don't drink soft drink that often and to me drinking regular coke tastes like downing pure sugar.

The supersized meal is a lot of fat. The Coke is a lot of sugar. A diabetic, for instance, could eat the fat but not the sugar. Or someone on a low-carb diet. I agree, though, it's dumb. Neither McDonalds nor Coke are really good for you.
Also I think some people just prefer the taste of Diet Coke. I used to travel with my boss a lot and everywhere he would order Stoli (Stolichnaya Vodka) and Diet Coke. I asked him why, and he said he just was used to the taste.

Diet Coke tastes good. Classic is too sweet. I get #1 w/ another Big Mac, large sized... (they discontinued super size a while ago) with Diet Coke & 2 apple pies every time I visit.

Since they know that the calories of the super sized meal is huge they ask for a diet coke because they would not want to add more calorie intake for that meal. And usually drinks give us empty calories and is harder to burn than most food.

Perhaps they prefer the taste of the diet coke over the regular one.

I think that's kind of silly too, but sometimes people just prefer the taste of diet sodas, I do. And also some people could be diabetic and can't have sugar. (I know they shouldn't eat McDonald's anyway because there is sugar in EVERYTHING there, even the meat and fries, but hey some people don't know what they're really eating.)

Because even though the fries and sanswiches are full of carbs the regular sodas have a lot more sugar in them and they might be diabetic.
