Global warming exists, however, is a natural cycle.
The total greenhouse gasses produced by humans during our entire existence could not raise the temperature on Mars a single degree Fahrenheit, let alone that of earth. If you still believe that we in some way are raising the temperature on earth, please, aid your cause and shoot yourself. You produce Methane (a greenhouse gas) just existing, and that pot that you are smoking produces some greenhouse gasses as well. I'll even provide the gun, free of charge.

There is not a single credible scientist nor scientific institution that would tell you otherwise.

You're son is partially right. The left is using this to make people use less oil, but they always use scare-tactics to meet their goals. It should come as no surprise. 2000's: Global Warming, 1960's: Global Cooling, 1920's: Global Warming, 1880's: Global Cooling - you can even see the liberal scar tactic change with this natural cycle. Looks like the left can't look at long term dating when drawing scientific conclusions.

Global Warming is propaganda to get us to submit to more government controls. Just as the attack on 11 September was used to justify the Patriot Act and the rest of the Nazi-style "anti-terrorism" measures.

Our politicians don't care how much oil we use. Their function is to keep the price of oil up. That's what they get paid to do. Look at the Department of Energy. Aside from the fact that the Constitution does not give our government the authority to regulate or control energy, what has it accomplished? It has prevented competition in the energy and kept the price of energy rising. The Department of Energy exists for the benefit of the big oil companies.

Global warming is a myth. The climate of the Earth is cyclical. It gets warmer for a few years, and then it gets cooler.

Here is a petition signed by 19,000 scientists disputing the claims of global warming"

Children are told myths and stories to simplify the concepts for them and to teach them how to behave. The experience of being told half truths so often can turn them into excellent lie detectors. I think your son is on to something.

The word "propaganda" can describe when, how, and why we have been told about global warming.. When you think about the PR announcements that are made every week in the business world in order to affect the financial markets, it's not a stretch to say that we are told alternately to use more oil, and then to use less oil in order to influence the price of crude and the stock values of oil companies and green tech companies. The big investors bet both ways, up and down. All they have to do is to know which way the will blow slightly ahead of time.

The problem with the issue of global warming is that the people who understand the math and the concepts can't explain it to the rest of us. Two sets of scientist are saying the other set is lying. All we know is someone is lying. Oil could be a motivation but I think the rising price of oil is doing more to make us reduce our use then the fear of global warming.
Here's a question though. If we went absolutly berserk trying to fight global warming and we did everything recommended times about 10 what is the worst thing that could happen? A depression because we would probably cripple industry and we would definitely suffer a lower standard of living. If we were right and the world is in danger we would still have a bad time economically but we would recover as we have done in the past. If we were wrong and its all a hoax then we would have destroyed our economy for nothing and it would take years to recover.
On the other hand if we do nothing what is the worst thing that can happen. If its a hoax then nothing happens. If its not then cataclysm. The destruction of most coastal cities, mass death, starvation, disease and the destruction of much of our infrastructure probably setting us back as a race about 500 years.

Which is the worst alternative if you must choose between two. Depression or cataclysm?

Yep that is what it is. The vast majority of climatologists around the world have started a great scam including all enviornmental protection experts and the governments of all but three developed nations. And the only people with the courage to speak the truth are a bunch of extreme right wing think tanks sponsored by the oil industry.
Somehow I doubt it.

Global warming has many causes, including fossil fuel usage.. Its in everyone interest that we all uses less oil, its a finite resource that cannot be replaced easily. using less will help slow down the warming phenomenon but will not stop it, .

Al Gore has made a ton of money frightening grade schoolers into thinking the world is ending. Global warming isn't even a theory, it's a hypothesis that so far has no supporting empirical evidence. It has also been shown that there are misleading "facts" in Gore's movie, such as when they found 4 dead polar bears after a storm, and decided to blame it on global warming. It doesn't do any good to remind people that Al Gore isn't a climatologist, seeing those poor dead polar bears is enough to convince them.

Correction: there is no empirical evidence that global warming is man-made or otherwise unnatural.

If global warming were just propaganda5, then the problem would stop at the internal combustion engine. Other forms of CO omissions wouldn't be of any consequence (e.g. using CFL light bulbs, cutting our coal use, etc.)

And yes, there certainly is enough evidence to support global warming.

Why would they need to do that when the price of oil is doing that well enough?!
Considering the fact that natural green house effect is responsible for life on this planet as we know it, and green house gases are shown to increase the heat trapping ability of water vapor, I would have to go with....No it isn't proaganda.

talk to a person who is 80 years old, and ask them if the climate is the same today as it was when they were 14 years old. I don't know any that will say yes it was, unless they are senile.

Global warming, or man made global warming is propaganda. But not to make us use less oil. It's about giving politicians control of our lives and economy, in the name of preventing some sort of ecological holocaust.

UPDATE - There's a ton of evidence supporting global warming? Really? Can you name some? Or are you just being told there's a ton of evidence? Are you just believing Al Gore when he says "The Debate is over?"

Because when I do my own research, I keep finding that the "evidence" has been greatly exagerated, or found faulty, and usually the consequences are greatly exagerated by the hucksters and media. Example: Gore's prediction of NY being under 20 feet of water, when the UN Climate agency predicts 20 inches.
