the name Laine for a girl?

the name would be pronounced as one syllable, so just laine, not laineyyyy but we would probably use lainey as a nickname.

It's a sweet name, but the first thing that popped into my head when I read it was: Plain Laine.

However, the more I think about the name the more I like it... I see it as a tasteful modern spin on Jane (even though it's probably an established name in it's own right)

Um, if your choice is between Potanga and Laine, definitely go for Laine! (Potanga? POTANGA? What are they thinking?)

In all seriousness, Laine is a very pretty name. I love the simplicity of one syllable names like Jane, Claire, Anne, or Laine. They are so beautiful and demure and self-secure.

Excellent name!! I have a friend that has two boys and one girl and there names are Layton, Landon, and Laine. We live in TX so the name fits right in. Very cute name.

I'd call her Elaine on her birth certificate, but just call her Laine. Then she will have a very normal name to fall back on if she doesn't like her unique one.

THere is nothing worse than having a name that everyone gets wrong. It is really embarrasing. I should know, I have an odd surname.

I don't like it. I do like Lane for a boy or Elaine nickname Laine for a girl.

I think it's pretty. The only Laine I know of was my ex's only sister. She was the prettiest and smartest girl ever in school. Her name was just spelled "Lane" though.

"Laine" is an interesting name, and I don't really like it all that much. I wouldn't want to be named Laine.... it's lame (see too similar).

How about Cassidy or Maraika or Dani or Casey or Annie or Skyler or Elliot or Potanga... hey, be original!

Laine? Is there any reason for it? It sounds kinda George Costanza- esque to me
