Hi. This site has some info. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpl03010
From the site "The Windows Printing System for most HP LaserJet printers provides two separate drivers: Standard and Enhanced. The Standard driver provides backward compatibility by using PCL 6 Standard (PCL5e) commands to print simple text or mixed text and graphics pages. The Enhanced driver utilizes the PCL 6 Enhanced commands that have been optimized for printing complex graphics pages."

We still use PCL5 with our Laser Printers, even the new ones. PCL6 gives us trouble. The above answer has the info you need, but in a nutshell, use what works best.
