hi, i want to play the latest games and such but i've read up on the 8800gt and i have found out it can get really hot. i don't really wana change the stock fan that comes with it myself as i'm not really good at computers and i'm afraid i would void the warranty accidentally. Any other good graphics cards to recommend? like maybe the second best?

if you wont overlock it u dont have to worry about that (it also depends on the manufacturer like Paltip or Leadtek overlocked their cards and put bigger fans which can get quite hot, go for gigabyte) also ensure that socket underneaths your card is left empty to ensure maximum air flow (u can even remove the cover for that socket from computer case)
i got 8600 GT in my laptop and it reaches even 94 degrees and never hangs up or restart :) (omega drivers + ntunes)

Second best is 8600 GT. There are probably some things in between, but its a good balance between price, speed/capabilities, and temperature. I would recommend either XFX or EVGA.

I have one in my computer and I put a slot fan on top of it to vent extra heat out.

keep on with the hyperlinks i comprehend no individual contained in the united statesis acquainted with the Palit style call yet they make respectable playing cards .I surely have 2 of those in sli and they play Crysis finished settings no mission. yet another contender below three hundred is the asus 8800GT which I listen is alright to boot.. yet when the total prices with delivery come above your funds an 8800 gt with 512 mb by Evga could do nicely to boot i have for my section owned countless evga's contained in the previous and they make miraculous playing cards without driving force insects to boot. in spite of you do stay faraway from Jaton they make the worst playing cards ever. desire this facilitates

Hi. You have good answers, but consider putting a fan inside the case blowing on the card. Check your intake and outflow fans. Make sure the intake filter is clean. Consider liquid cooling.
