I am running at 8800 gtx! I just barely got a 26" monitor and its running around 71c. before it was running at 65c with my 18"! Why is it getting higher and how high should be aloud to go?

get some more fans or if you can afford it a liquid cooling mechanism onto your computer. it shouldn't really be that high. normal temps should be maintained below 60c for a highly loaded system.

You're should go google tech forums for 8800 GTX temperatures.

The jump in temperature is understandable assuming both are LCD monitors. You're probably doubled the amount of pixels you had because 18" are generally 1024x768 while 26 in is at least 1920x1200 or higher.

Also, don't worry until your card starts exceeding 100c. Graphics cards run at VERY high temperatures. If you know what you're doing, try watercooling. If not so much, make sure your case is well ventilated with case fans.

Hi. Only the resolution should effect temperature of the GPU, but 71C is pretty high. Make sure your fans are working and the filters are clean.
