I have no idea what is the difference between a MB and GB. I was wondering which is bigger? If I see a computer that say it has a memory of 1 GB and another one that has a memory of 2048 MB which has bigger memory. Another question is what is a hard drive and what does it do? Thanks

2048 mb is 2 gigabytes.

Just think of a gigabyte as roughly 1000mb.

MB and GB are units to measure the memory of computer.

1 GB = 1024 MB, so the answer to your first question, 2048 MB is greater than 1 GB.

There are two types of memory in a computer, one is the called RAM(main memory), another called secondary memory, which is a Hard Drive, the difference between them is that primary memory is volatile, in the sense that if you switch of the computer all the data stored by the system software in this memory will be lost, also this memory cannot be accessed by a conventional user, its mainly used by your computer's software to perform its tasks.

The Secondary memory is a Hard drive, this is where you would store your files etc,. Any data you store here is non volatile, meaning that the data you store on this will be available between startups of your computer. Also you as a user are in control of that data.

hope this helps.

Both MB, or megabyte, and GB, or gigabyte, are measures of bytes. A GB is larger than a MB, in fact 1024 MB equals 1 GB. So 2048 MB would equal 2 GB. And the hard drive is where everything on your computer is stored, ie all your files, the operating system, drivers. So anything you save on your computer gets saved to the harddrive. So, intuitively, a larger harddrive is better.

MB and GB are abbreviations of Megabytes and Gigabytes. 1000 MB equals to 1 GB. More GB is better. HDD is device to store computer OS (operating system files which are read only) and data like documents, applications, games etc...(Read / Write)

here's a conversion:
1024 MB = 1 GB
therefore
2048 MB = 2 GB

hard drive is where you store all files and data. the amount of space it has is expressed in GB too.

Hi. The 1GB or 2GB is the RAM on the board and the Hard drive is storage. More RAM usually means better performance when you do a lot of things at once. (2048MB is the same as 2GB.)
