I have been thinking more and more about breaking away from my boring bank job, just selling up everything n living a less cluttered life. I enjoy working out, fresh air, eating and drinking but I don't seem to be getting enough in my present life. I have been feeling like this for quite a long time now but as I am approaching 45 I wonder if it might just be a mid life phase?!

You only live once, and this is no dress rehearsal. If what you described is really what you would like to do, then go for it.
It will give you time to sort some things out, and get a new perspective on life and what might be your next step.
Remember: let's not have any regrets like: "I should have done this or that" while on your death bed.
Best of luck to you, and the Virgin Islands are nice I hear!

Sometimes a change of scenery can help. Take a vacation! Go someplace like Jamaica, or Cancun. Relax by a pool sipping marguerita's or mai-tai's. If that's too rich for your blood, then go to a party or take a local trip for a weekend. I don't know where you live, but I used to live in the Buffalo area, and you'd be surprised how many people I talked to who had lived there all their lives and had never even been to Niagara Falls. It's only 30 or so minutes away!!
Anyway, do something different. If you live in a cold climate, instead of dreading the approaching snow, go sledding or rent a cabin in a park or something. If you live in a warm climate, go to a park, ride a bike or rent a canoe. If you are single join some singles groups. Look in the entertainment section of your newspaper, in many cases it will be in Friday's news. Good luck!!

What can I tell you. I left the daily grind to something different at age 50. Heck....I came to work in Iraq 3 years ago and have enjoyed every minute. Well, maybe not getting shot at on convoys.... but everything else.

Sorry, but a bank job? Maybe it is time for a change.

Get that book "Your Money Or Your Life", by Joe Dominguez.
It will help you.
No, it's probably not midlife crisis. You're just fedup.

try changing you habits (good or bad) and learn new ones..
look for a role model (around your age) and see how he lives his everyday life, try to mimic and see if you can adapt to changes.
