I get teased. I think it is because people know that I am not sure of myself. So what should I do, PRETEND that I am sure of who I am? But then wouldn't I still be insecure inside?

I'm sorry that you are being picked on. That sucks so much, but you can't pretend to be sure of yourself. You have to learn who you are and be confident in it despite what people will say.
My advice for you is to start trying some new things. Try a new look, a new hobby, get involved in something you think you might enjoy. Make some new friends in the process. I know it isn't easy to just go up and make friends with some random stranger, but they don't have to be random.
I know that when I moved, I auditioned for the musical and made a ton of friends that way.
It's the little things that give us some identity and purpose. If you always wanted to cook, cook. If you wanted to wear stilleto hills and a mini skirt, do it. Go crazy, who knows what you'll find.

You're probably right...they do tease you because they can sense a lack of confidence from you. And though you didn't really mean it when you suggested it, you stumbled upon at least a part of the strategy for improving this situation. "Pretending" you're confident is just fine if that gets you through. Because in many instances in life it's better to look confident than to feel confident. But the more you pretend to be self-assured, the more it actually becomes a reality. Yes, you would still feel insecure inside...some times moreso than other times. But with each time this will grow more manageable the more you do it. Try it and see.

It's really hard to answer these kinds of questions because only you can learn to be happy with yourself. You should realize that other people probably tease you because they see you as an easy target. You probably don't speak up for yourself enough or just don't have something to say that will let them know you don't care. Even if you do care, don't let them know. They're just making fun of you to make themselves feel better. Don't let people walk all over you. You're obviously a better person than them anyways! If you ever want to seriously talk about some mean comebacks, let me know because I'm a real...you know what. :-)

It sounds like you know who you are, and sounds like you are very wise, never pretend to be something you're not, don't worry about getting teased, it's sad to say, but every single person that teases you now, and acts all cocky and stuff and thinks that they have the world by the #$#$, will 9 out of 10 times end up in prison and you will probally be the one to make something out of yourself, s, just be who you are and don't worry about it.

You know, what you're going through is very normal and i doubt anyone else your age is sure of themselves. (im going to guess you're young... middle or high school maybe? If im wrong, im really sorry!). Im 17 and im just now begining to be sure of who iam and you dont really know until you start thinking for yourself and not letting others think for you. Good luck and don't rush things. You shouldn't pretend to be something you're not to please others. =)

if you're an insecure person, you're an insecure person, that's your person and, well .. tell everyone else to shove their ideas up their *** <-- that's my person =)
