People consider suicide as the taking of your own life.My question here is what all counts as suicide.I know that they say shooting yourself, cutting you wrist, jumping off buildings, hanging your self, things like these are suicide. What about stuff that you know will kill you but not as fast as the first group. If you know that smoking will eventually lead or contribute to your death but you do it anyway does that count as suicide. If you know that drinking can cause you to die or lead to your death after years of doing but you continue anyway knowing whatthe oucome will be does it count as suicide. Some might say that suicide is only when you choose to end your life. But if you choose to do things that will cause your life to end at some point bcause of those chosen actions how is it different than suicide. You are still killing yourself it just takes longer.s there some kind of loop hole in the bible about suicide,or do you decide what you want to count as suicide and what you

Any though

you lost me at bible
but seriously...
let's look at the alcohol use example
i would not consider this to be suicide, firstly, because every drink is not taken with the intent to end your life (usually... we'll get back to this)
secondly... and i'm trying to figure out how to phrase this, because i know people plan and try for years to kill themselves... the road to it may be long, but the act itself is relatively quick and to the point
ok, so it's all coming back to the same thing - intentions - motivation - choosing to do something, not only knowing it will kill you, but BECAUSE it will kill you
if you're looking for loopholes to the bible so you can end your life but still go to heaven afterwards, i think you're in trouble - - what i always understood from this was that it's a sin because it's not yours to decide - your life is not your life - god creates, god destroys, right?
but, if you don't think god can even see past the last days of your life to tell whether you were trying to steal his death-date-choosing powers, how do you justify spending so much time debating what he wants you to do?

Everyone is going to die sometime but when you do something to end your life instead of waiting until your time is up then that is suicide. Smoking, drinking, driving fast cars, etc. is not committing suicide, that is just doing stupid things. If you do something that ends your life immediately after you do it you have committed suicide. I think what you are referring to in the Bible is that a simple minded person is not responsible for his actions. I know if you are mentally unstable to the point you can't make smart decisions for yourself then you will not be held accountable on judgment day. That would be very mentally handicapped people though.

Smoking and drinking are a slow suicide. Those taking illegal drugs will not have to wait as long. Mixing even legal drugs with alcohol would be a relatively quicker death. Those who continuously drink and drive can expect to either take their own life or that of another rather quickly, and smoking in bed (and falling asleep with a lit cigarette) would end your life pretty quickly.

You also have to consider the things we put in our bodies. The foods we eat are making us unhealthy and eating out at fast food restaurants a lot is another form of suicide. Not only are we raising our cholesterol, but we're all abusing our hearts and will eventually die from heart failure. Another form of suicide because we brought it on ourselves.

Not only that, but consider those drivers who constantly speed and/or street race. Their recklessness could cause a wreck that could result in their death, or, again, that of someone else.

Do you talk on the phone while driving? Reckless. If you die from an accident that you caused because you were on the phone, would that be suicide?

Anything we do, from leaving the house to driving to eating to drinking to swimming, could result in our death. We live to die, but you can choose the quality of your own life while you live.

You could not potentially realize forward of time in a hindrance like that, so I could say that you simply would not have a alternative. It could now not "rely" as suicide. I can turn out it too. If you pick suicide in ANY style, and also you fail, the police will arrest you and you're going to be jailed for "tried homicide". If you had been status on your apartment and it was once approximately to explode (say you even knew it for argument's sake) and also you selected to stick, you would be blown to smithereens, however the police would not realize that. They could simply document that you simply had been observed within the apartment (in portions) in an "unlucky twist of fate", that's what it could be. Good query despite the fact that.

Those things do not make you die, however they do increase your risk of things like heart problems and cancer. I would not say that the people that par take in these activities are suicidal or committing suicide. I would however say they are making poor decisions. But most people do. Few people exercises everyday, never eat junk food or alcohol, only sleep with one person their entire life or never do any thrill seeking activities (sky diving, bungee jumping, hang gliding, rock climbing, even motorcycles riding, etc.).

There are many activities that people do that are not 100% healthy and contribute to their risk of health problems later on, that does not make them suicudal.

People who smoke (like my pastor) or drink (like my entire congregation) would argue that they aren't necessarily trying to kill themselves. They simply enjoy life's guilty pleasures. It's actually no different than the fat people who aren't vegetarians, or the diabetics who don't drink diet soda. In fact, the fat people and diabetics will be dead long before the smokers and drunks. Have a beer and skip the cheeseburger. I'll talk to you when you're 100.

Well smoking dosen't count as suicide...People like to be oblivious tot he fact it kills them. Unless you're going 'I want to die but I want it to take a really really long time and I'm going to do it by smoking'. Then it's suicide. Same with Drinking. Unless you're purpously drinking enough to kill yourself of alcohol poisoning then it dosen't count. People who smoke and drink don't want to kill themselves. They're just an addict. Thats different.

killing yourself, whether it is quick or slow. many alcoholics are unable to pull the trigger so they take it very slowly. many take years and years to get there. they hate living, most of the time.

empty nothing to live for. liquor helps them deny the problem to suit themselves. a bottle of j&b helps you forget the details. simple tunes and superficial chats in a dark bar seem perfect. that is not the only way. if they get sober they are afraid they will face the hangman. the painful and scary thoughts must be blocked.

denial is how to block. drugs and liquor are the usual aids

must block the horrible thoughts of failing and self hate. they joke about death, even suicide, but it is not just a joke.

The only counter-examples you gave are addictive behaviors that increase your risk of dying. Addictions make you act against your otherwise sound judgement. You're not choosing to indulge in your addiction because you want to die, but because of the reinforced pleasure of the addiction.

There are no "loopholes" with God because He knows what's in your heart and what your true intentions are.

well what you have just said is pretty stupid because if you want to look at it like that then everything is suicide such as as having kids that puts stress on you there for making you life shorter than what it would be without them or eating fast food that can cause heart attack so is that suicide and the answer is NOOOO
