my hobby is to make things with hobby motors and i never knew how to make a speed control.......so if you know how to make a simple one out of ordinary supplies i would really apprecieate the info thanks

A speed control for DC is either a variable resistor or a variable resistor controlling a power transistor.
A speed control of AC is a phase control of a triac or pair of SCR's like this.

Look up pulse width modulation circuits on Yahoo search. Such a circuit would give you the required speed control.
