No and i think we don't need to. Because it can hurt ourself accidently. Just lock the door and switch on the lights will do. Don't think any negative perception. You can carry your cordless phone around in case if anything happen you can just call someone close to you to inform them or just call a police if anything suspicious happen. Just enjoy yourself by watching TV or movies, don't think about bad thing so much as it will make you uncomfortable in your own home ;)

I only carry my cell phone, because if I miss a call, I may lose a customer. Other than that, no.
I hear everything because I have super awesome hearing, so I'm used to hearing strange noises all the time.

Not a knife. Just my pit bull, my rifle, my musket, my pistol, my panic button, my phone and one of the Harry Potter books. (They serve as good weapons)
Edit: And I can't believe I forgot about my short sword, my battle ax, my mage staff and my fire breathing dragon.
So don't mess with me, I'm a level ten elf. I can kick some serious walking dead butt.
