Hillary - or any woman at all, for that matter?

As a "problem" with Hillary as president, we have offered on this same forum: "And she married a philandering craphead that has likely bumped off more people than Al Capone." Are women defined by the people they marry?

I don't think she could have run for president as a divorcee-she almost had to stick with Bill. Rudy is being attacked for all his marriages, so can you imagine what they'd say if Hillary had divorced Bill? She had to stand by her man if she wanted to succeed in the conservative world of US politics.

That's an interesting question. I really don't know if she would or could. I'm not sure but I think that Americans are very concerned about issues like marriage and sexual morality with politicians and they often expect an ideal even if it is not realistic.

Divorce may not have bothered the average American because most Americans are familiar with it. Of course if the Clintons divorced it would have bothered some people but I believe many of them would not have voted for a woman for president any way or voted for a Democrat.

I think Hillary would have stayed in politics if she divorced but she may have considered divorce to be just not worth the risk of lowering her chances for being president.

I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I could really not care less about their marital strife. Democrats who base their voting decisions on a candidates personal life are behaving like Republicans.

She'd probably not have enough support to run without Bill. For the first (and probably last) time, I agree with Mike.

I think they are married for political purposes only. They need each other to put across the marriage front. They also need each others political savvy. Especially now that Hillary is running she can tap into Bill's network.

In general.. single people don't run for President. Americans are obsessed with this "family unit" image or "family values". As if everyone has a traditional family.

I want a single person to run for president for a change. Not everyone is married with kids... nore do they have to be.

Yes, I think she would. Marital status should have no impact on election decisions.
