My bearded dragon is almost 3 months old. I have had him for 2 months. Things have been going really well. He has grown a lot, he eats a LOT. All of his needs are taken care of. My husband and I adore him. We talk to him and hold him daily. But he suddenly seems very resistant to us. The first month we had him, he was very tiny but loved to be held, he would sleep on my finger. But now, as he has gotten larger and older he freaks out whenever we even put our hand in his cage. He tries to jump off out hand and will run around in circles in his cage, freaking out. For like the first week I thought maybe he was shedding or he was just uncomfortable or something. But after a month he seems to be getting worse? What could this be? Could something be wrong? IS it just a phase? Could we just have a dragon that doesn't like to be held? I have heard so much about these guys that say they loved to be held, and pet, he just doesn't
t seem to like to be touched. What is going on??

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've had my bearded dragon for 9 years now and to this day he goes through phases like this. Normally I still take him out and put him on my bed. The best way to a beardy's heart is through his stomach. Try hand-feeding him his favorite food.

My bearded dragon is also acting this way, maybe its because it may be their breeding time?. I don't keep my in a glass tank, as mine is allowed to come and go when ever it chooses, but lately it has been terrified of me and I have done nothing to upset him. I feed him mince and ripe banana, so I suppose he will get use to me all over again.

I wouldn't worry. He sounds like a normal, healthy, frisky baby beardie! Just continue your daily handling sessions, but keep them very short. Can you offer him treats from your hands? Maybe a juicy cricket? :) He'll settle with time and patience.

yeah, he may just be going through a phase, my lizard does the same, leave him alone for awhile, then hold him TWICE daily.
