My case... they are idiots and wouldn't know a chatty question if it slapped them in the face.
I reask every question they give me a violation for and it does stay. Hmmm! If they get any smarter, a box of rocks just might be worried.
That's my opinion.

we got many options for chatting just click allow i.m
,but i agree .there should be a box where you can leave a message .

often i want to compliment or kill some body and because they are new they have not programmed an email connection.

and the only way is to look for one of their open questions and work your comment in with the often irrelevant ,answer

so we should have a comment box before the fact ,not only after that say personal message ,then you got into the chat yahoo or hot mail or gmail or even the browsers
And you can blab away as much as you like .

It is not really fair if to people have a discussion or fight or a love affair ,and nobody else qualifies to answer.

Profoundly anal. Written by one of those snotty little girls who made your life miserable in the fourth grade.

I write rules. (Weird hobby, I know, but I've been doing it for over fifty years). I know silly rules when I see them.

They do have a small point that has some merit. Adherence to the Question . . . Answer rhythm does impose a method on Y!A participants that (for methodological considerations) is arguably likelier to be fruitful than is your typical chatroom, where the primary concern is getting sex as quickly as possible.

Not

that there's anything wrong with that.

I think the idea is to prevent 2 or 3 people from asking a bunch of questions back and forth to only each other without the intention of getting answers or comments from anyone else. It takes up a lot of data space, and people who ask legitimate questions will get the lost in the shuffle. It goes against the idea of getting a variety of answers from a broad knowledge base. Also there are millions of chat rooms out there where 2 people can talk back and forth with each other.

Yeah, I would love to be able to chat to many people about their Q,s and create a dialog. I guess we could leave the site and use personal Email or IM if we wanted. It seems most of us do post alternate ways of getting in touch. I just have limited my doing that out of concern that it may not be wanted. But the few I have contacted, did respond nicely.

I'm a great beliver in bending rules to the limit. Problem is learning where Yahoo choses to consider it broke instead of bent.

I'm cool with it. It's a question-and-answer setup. When the answers stray too far from the question or various answerers start a discussion among themselves the site loses its basic characteristic. If one wants to initiate a discussion, email the other party or parties and meet off-site.

Yahoo's been pissing me off lately. They should have less strict rules.

Though I do have to admit, if they did lessen up on the rules, there would be more idiots and trolls running around here.

But I do think that you should be allowed to post to a question more than once.

Polls and Surveys seems to be the most tolerant catagory for chatting. There seems to be something for everyone. It's nice.

Take care.

I love to stop in here with you guys.

WTF!!! I hope this isn't "chatty" but thanks for telling me of this. That's just ridiculous. I guess that's when you ask a question back. But, I've done that many times and not had something like that said to me. That's just crap. Did Yahoo! do this to you? I would like to know, even at the risk of being "chatty."
