If someone has their hands around your throat long enough, you will…eventually…try to kill them—even if you know it will mean your own death. Just ask a Palestinian…or an Iraqi…or an American.

Hussein never threatened to attack the United States.
And, according to the Congressional 9/11 and Prewar Intelligence reports:
1. There were no terrorists in Iraq before Bush invaded;
2. Hussein did not allow terrorist training camps;
3. Hussein hated al Qaeda before we did;
4. Hussein did not hide al-Zarqawi, he tried to have him arrested; and of course
5. No WMDs or involvement with 9/11.
And recent (last summer) reports by the US Department of State and a consensus of America’s 16 Intelligence Agencies both conclude that the US presence in Iraq is only making the situation there worse and that, after 4 years of the Bush Administration’s war on terror— anti-American terrorist organizations have grown larger, stronger, and are more successful than ever; and Americans are less safe and less secure than they were before 9/11.

Deliberate indifference to the plight of a people breeds contempt. I assume your question is directed at our actions in Iraq, and as such is somewhat skewed. Our agression was against a dictator who verbally and financially supported terrorism. He also openly threatened the US and its security in addition to murdering hundreds of thousands of his countrymen. When we removed him, the country celebrated. The infighting that has subsequently developed was the result of tribalism, and would be warlords who wanted to assume control of the country. Things are improving in Iraq as these wannabe dictators are figuring out they arent going to get their way. give it a couple more years and we should have a viable stable government established there and we can pack up our tents and go home.

If someone is occupying a space that rightfully belongs to you and they use aggression to do this 'hate' may be too weak a word for what this generates.
But then we get into the game of it is really occupation or just ones interpretation of same. If it is a wrong interpretation and the aggression is predicated on violence due to this. We have another case scenario.

Of course. Look at Iraq. Americans are being killed for nothing. The Shia and the Sunni are at each other throats. And Turkey is trying to interfere and invade the Kurds in Iraq.

Yes. When you occupy a nation with a military, there is inevitably going to be hate. The military will unavoidably kill civilians, commit crimes like rape and robbery, all in the name of "helping" people in those regions, who are often treated with contempt.
This, along with ignorance and denial, and a belief in the occupier that they are "good" will breed hatred towards the nation the occupied someone else.

We the human animal are based in hate and greed.
We want, not only for survival, but for survival the way WE want it.
Hate, like love is an innate part of the human animal. It is how we act on the part that defines us.
