I don't recall any Republican in the media or public office making that statement. The fact is that all thru the 90s and up till we entered Iraq, leading Democrats believed Saddam had WMD and the ability to produce them. It was a Democratic President that signed the resolution making the removal of Saddam a matter of National policy. Democrats in congress voted for that and for the authorization on the use of Force. Why do liberals want that covered up? This fight is not strictly a Republican one, The people that attacked us on 9-11 didn't give a damn whether they killed liberals or conservatives. They still don't. And if you think dividing yourselves off from the Country will keep you alive if captured by these savages, you had best think again.

If you study history you will see history repeating over and over. None of this stuff is new. Read "The Prince" by Nicolò Machiavelli. One thing you learn is that war is very profitable. These people believe the end justifies the means. All it take is picking the evidence to fit the facts they want. Politics has become big business. If the government gets a few people to blindly follow them or at least muddy up the facts they feel have done their job. I believe they do their job well.

I dont know of anyone who claimed that you werent a patriot if you questioned the WMD presence. The fact is that During Gulf I we found WMD's and part of the armacist was that they were to dispose of them and give full accounting and disclosure. Which they actively resisted doing. The WMD's were not the only reason for going in. Look at the Authorization to use force in iraq. Passed by congress unanimously (including the liberal contingent, although many of them dont rember voting for it now), it contained 22 reasons for invading. the iraqi liberation act of 1990 listed several additional reasons that congress found it necessary to act. The only persons who I heard referred to as unpatriotic were those that expressed a lack of support for our troops or accused them of being murderers. I still feel that way about those misguided morons.

Let us define Military killing and political murder in the arena respective of each and we discover that labels are classed as irrelevant.Bush entered his terms with the consistent issue of confidence in that what he indicated he knew about but could not discuss was far more relevant to voters than an actual presentation of facts.

Simple--the goal of the right-wing (not legitimateRepulicans) was--and is--to use intimidation, libel, and slander to silence those who dissent from their ideology, or,failing that, to destroy the reputations of their opponents.
It is, in short, a purpose which is itself profoundly unAmerican and unpatriotic, since it seeks to destroy the free expression of ideas that is the foundation of liberty in America.

Read these 2 statements and you will understand why.
Statement Number One: "The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."
Statement Number Two: "To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists, for they erode our national unity and diminish our resolve."
The first statement is a quote from Hitler's right hand man, Hermann Goering, explaining at his war crimes trial how easily he and his fellow Nazis hijacked Germany's democratic government. The second statement is a quote from Bush's right hand man, John Ashcroft, defending the Patriot Act and explaining why dissent will no longer be tolerated in the age of terrorism. If that doesn't send chills down your spine, nothing will.

Because basically they are totalitarian and dont allow for differences of opinion. In this case of course Bush was also lying to justify an invasion. Others smeared opponents in order to win elections by appealing to people's patriotism and demonizing doubters.
