Gotten a couple calls in the last few days from -

These calls come to my cell phone. I know no one in these area codes so I know now who they are coming from.

What I do is keep the Spanish speaking recording on the line, then when a person comes on I explain to them in my bad Spanish and English combination that I am not interested in what they are selling. This is two fold- it keeps them from calling someone else in that time and it might eventually get through to someone that understands English.

AT&T has told me that they can do nothing about the calls, but I plan on calling them every time I get one of these calls, just to annoy them and maybe then they will do something about the solicitors.

Also I have registered my phone at - www.donotcall.gov/ in order to get off these people's call list.

I have nothing against Spanish speaking people, just solicitors (whom I think are the bane of everyone - kinda like lawyers).

I realize there is a time delay on the registering of the number and the stopping of the solicitor's calls.

The main purpose of this was to alert others to the issues that I am having with solicitors, and my hopes that you all will have no issues like I am having if you jump onto the "Do Not Call" list now (thus the information of the web site).

Thank you

Block your cell phone number. Call 1-888-382-1222 from your cell phone ASAP. This is the do not call registry. The cell phone companies started selling numbers last March.

If you recently registed the number on the Do Not Call list, it takes a month for that list to get to all of the solicitors. At that point, any violations should be addressed to either the Federal Communications Commission or the Federal Trade Commission.

It usually takes a few weeks after you register on www.donotcall.gov so the calls should be slowing down or maybe even stop by then. I did my cell phone that way but just to let you know that every once in a while one still slips by. When this happens I just hang up and they usually get the message.

Yes if you gave them the number. You should pay your bills anyway or you might end up with no cell phone either.
